About Dr. Ali Shehata:

Dr. Ali Shehata was born in Maryland. His family is originally from Egypt and he was raised in the United States. He began his college career in Arizona where he finished his undergraduate studies. Afterwards he was accepted into medical school in Ohio.

During his life he has studied with a number of scholars in North America. Among them Shaykh Dr. Jafar Idris (May Allah Preserve him), Shaykh Muhammad Syed Adly, Shaykh Yousuf Idris, and Shaykh Ahmad Abdul Muttalib (a student of some prominent scholars of Egypt like Shaykh Abu Ishaaq Huwainee and Shaykh Muhammad Hassan) from whom he benefitted the most. Also, he frequently speaks at various Islamic Centers and masaajid around the country. Previously he was a regular lecturer on www.adly.net where he had his lectures broadcasted live alongside his teacher, Shaykh Muhammad Syed Adly.

Recently he moved to Houston, TX where he lives with his family and works in a local hospital. While being an avid student of Shaykh Waleed Basyouni, he is also a dedicated student of AlMaghrib Institute, an organization that provides trademark double-weekend seminars leading its students towards a bachelor's degree in Islamic Studies
